Sounding board group Engineers & Energy Transition
Independent knowledge partner for government and society

The Engineers and Energy Transition (I&E) Sounding Board Group consists of independent engineers and technicians under the umbrella of KIVI, who want to make a substantive contribution to solving problems of energy transition.
KIVI Engineers and Energy Transition (KIVI I&E)
Objectives of KIVI I&E:
- To be a point of contact for politics and society on energy transition.
- To assess information from the government regarding the energy transition.
- To deliver and maintain 'Factsheets' on forms of energy generation and energy carriers.
Focus areas
Energy transition is a very broad area. It is therefore divided into 10 attention
areas. See the relevant page.
Starting point
KIVI I&E focuses on the 2030 to 2050 climate objective.
The Paris Agreement and the IPCC are the guidelines here.
Strategy
The approach is to have a broad background within KIVI Engineers.
Energy transition and which is as objective as possible.
News
The largest in the world is in Rotterdam:
2.6 MW high-temperature water electrolysis plant opened
The production of (green) hydrogen at high temperature and pressure is much more efficient than current methods, but was until now in its infancy.
The infancy has now been pulled out: on 6 October, as part of the MultiPLHY project, a 2.6 MW HTE plant producing 60 kg/h of hydrogen at a temperature of 850°C and an efficiency of 84% was inaugurated on Neste's premises. And that's just a pilot!
The plant is based on Sunfire's SOEC (Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell) technology. The high temperature allows the hydrogen to be used directly in downstream processes. Think refineries and ammonia production
