Dutch contacts
The department cooperates with organisations, which can broaden, enrich and deepen its field of expertise. In this way, an important contribution is made to improving the knowledge infrastructure in the Netherlands.
Other KIVI departments
The Construction and Hydraulic Engineering Department maintains close relations with fellow KIVI departments related to construction and hydraulic engineering. These departments are:
The department also organises regular activities with the departments from the various regions and with Young KIVI Engineers.
Stadswerk
The association Stadswerk Nederland (1,600 members) is a professional association for managers and (policy) employees working in municipalities and municipal partnerships in the broad field of spatial planning and the environment.
Technical Universities
By organising activities together with the study associations of the Technical Universities (Delft and Twente), the department provides contacts with young (future) colleagues.
Foreign contacts
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
The department serves as the lead agency for KIVI's contacts with the US sister society American Society of Civil Engineers, with which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 1995. A supplementary agreement was signed in 1998, which gives practical effect to this. Partly as a result, the accessibility of the US market and the expertise present there is increased, partly by obtaining membership of the ASCE in a simplified manner. It also makes their publications and literature more accessible.
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
An agreement has been concluded between the Institution of Civil Engineers and KIVI, which means that KIVI members can attend ICE meetings and make use of many ICE facilities. There is also the possibility of qualifying as a Chartered (Civil) Engineer with considerably less conditions than prospective members (Associate Members) of the ICE itself. Contacts between the ICE and KIVI are provided by the Department of Civil Engineering. There is always an ICE representative resident in the Netherlands on the board of the Section. Further information can be obtained there. You can also become acquainted with the ICE via this website.
Contacts with Belgium and Germany
The section is currently establishing contact with sister associations from Belgium and Germany. More news on this soon.
