Description

On Tuesday 4 November, EMC-ESD in Practice will take place at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. The programme addresses practical topics of EMC and ESD issues for your product, systems or installations. Besides three plenary presentations (by KLM, Movares and KHBO), 15 speakers will lecture in the parallel tracks. The tracks delve further into EMC and ESD, but continue to focus mainly on practice. There are also interesting presentations in the specialisation tracks for experts to follow.

The theme of this day is 'EMC and ESD in motion. EMC and ESD are on the move in various ways. Think of shipping, aviation, automotive, trains, the human body, mobile installations, but also failures due to improper use of floors.

Many EPA spaces use a combination between shoe and floor for grounding persons moving on the aforementioned floor. Qualifying and quantifying ESD properties (resistance and friction potential build-up) can be done in several ways. During the presentation, ASML will provide insight (by means of several practical demonstrations) into a number of important aspects that influence the end result obtained with the surface resistance tester and the walking tester. Think of contamination, material selection, earth reference, etc.

In the EMC track, MIW Consultants addresses the statement 'a device must not disturb and must not be disturbed'. Following a discussion on LinkedIn, it became clear that there are many, sometimes perceived as contradictory, perspectives. The transition from the prescriptive regulations of the past, to the goal-setting regulations in today's CE era, apparently requires a different approach to find the optimal compromise
