Info sites
Sites with reliable information on nuclear technology, a (small) selection
Extraordinarily complete site from the World Nuclear Association with everything about nuclear power (in English).
Nuclear Netherlands unites the five main nuclear organisations in the Netherlands: URENCO, EPZ, NRG, Reactor Institute Delft, PALLAS and COVRA.
One address to links for information on nuclear power.
Sites of companies
Sites of companies / institutions that have something to do with nuclear technology in the Netherlands.
COVRA is the 'Central Organisation for Radioactive Waste'. COVRA collects all radioactive waste in the Netherlands. It is regulated by law that COVRA is the only body allowed to do this. COVRA also manages a fund that will pay for a final solution for disposal of the waste (possibly underground).
EPZ is the operator of the Borssele nuclear power plant, the KCB. EPZ is 70% owned by Delta and 30% owned by Essent.
The Nuclear Research & consultancy Group (NRG) provides advice on all aspects of nuclear engineering and applications of radiation and has a research programme covering these aspects. NRG also operates extensive research facilities including the High Flux Reactor (HFR, 45 MW capacity) in Petten. NRG is one of the largest producers of isotopes for the medical sector (world market share 30%).
Reactor Institute Delft (RID) is part of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft, TUD). The RID uses the Higher Education Reactor (HOR) at Delft, to conduct experimental research. So-called bundling facilities are attached to the HOR (2 MW power).
The organisation that wants to build the PALLAS reactor to replace the HFR at Petten.
Urenco enriches natural uranium until a content of uranium-235 usable for nuclear power plants is reached. To do this, the company uses the ultracentrifuge process. Headquartered in Marlow, UK, plants are located in the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom (UK). A fourth plant will be built in the United States. Currently, Urenco has a 25% share of the global enrichment market. The ultracentrifuge technology was largely developed in the Netherlands.
Mallickrodt Medical is a global biopharmaceutical company, including a production site in Petten, the Netherlands. In cooperation with NRG, it produces radioisotopes for medical applications. But the company also makes radioisotopes independently using cyclotrons.
