Task of the Activities Committees
Organising activities of interest to members of the Electrical Engineering Section in the south of the country (the area below the great rivers).
Target
The activities are open to all KIVI members, regardless of where they live or work. Members may also bring a guest who is not (yet) a member of KIVI.
Costs and conditions
For members of the Electrical Engineering Division, the activities are free of charge, or a small contribution to the cost is requested. Members of other KIVI departments and guests are charged for the costs.
For Electrical Engineering students at a college or university, activities are generally free of charge.
In the case of excursions, a company may ask in advance to see the list of participants or make further demands regarding identification. If this is the case, it will be indicated in the announcement of the activity.
For details on costs and conditions, please consult the activity calendar on this website.
Planning of activities
Approximately six activities are organised per year. Some of these are excursions to companies in the field, others are lectures on new developments in the field. We try to spread the activities over the entire discipline.
The planning of the activities is coordinated with KIVI Region South. Thanks to this unique coordination, there is almost weekly activity of the cooperating KIVI departments in the south of the country outside the holiday season.
Announcement of activities
Activities are announced in a brochure distributed to members of the cooperating KIVI departments in the south of the country. In addition, activities are announced on the KIVI website. In certain cases, KIVI members for whom the activity is of interest are notified by e-mail.
Composition
Efforts are made to ensure that the activities committee is representative of the region's businesses and organisations (Industry, services, universities and colleges, students).
Methodology
An activities committee meets about six times a year for consultation and coordination. The meetings are generally in Eindhoven or nearby. These meetings include:
- Selecting companies or organisations for an interesting excursion or a topic for an exciting, interesting lecture.
- Assigning responsibility for an activity to an activity committee member. This committee member is then responsible for contacting companies and speakers, selecting a location and further preparations.
- Preparing the programme brochure.
- Monitoring progress of ongoing activities and resolving bottlenecks.
- Evaluation of excursions and lectures. Formulating and working out improvement proposals.
- Coordination and cooperation with the KIVI Chamber at TU Eindhoven.
- Contacts with KIVI Department of Electrical Engineering, KIVI Region South, the electrical engineering study associations, other KIVI departments and related associations in the Netherlands and Belgium.
