Policy
The KIVI-E Board maintains good contacts with the electrical engineering study associations in the field of electrical engineering at universities and colleges.
The KIVI Electrical Engineering Section is very interested in more contacts with the study associations in the field of electrical engineering at universities and colleges. Study associations wishing to participate in this are invited to contact the section secretariat.
Excursions and lectures for students
Most KIVI Electrical Engineering Department company visits and lectures are open to students for a minimal fee.
Grants for activities of electrical engineering study associations
In certain, specific cases, KIVI Department of Electrical Engineering makes a financial contribution to activities of the study associations. More information can be obtained from the department treasurer.
Cooperation with electrical engineering study associations
In Eindhoven, Delft and Twente, the study associations already make a useful and valued contribution to the organisation of lectures and excursions. They sit on activity committees, have a say in the composition of the activity programme, and KIVI-E members support the organisation of major conferences or symposia.
Besides a useful experience, this cooperation contributes to a network of that can come in handy when finding internships, graduation places, finding a job and building a career.
KIVI Electrical Engineering prize
At the festive presentation of the KIVI-E award, which attracts a lot of media interest, a representation of the study associations will be invited to contribute.
Student associations at universities and colleges
Every study programme has its own study association. This is a club for and by students with the aim of making it as pleasant and educational as possible for each other. For example, the association organises excursions and study trips abroad, often in collaboration with the faculty.
Colleges of electrical engineering
Fontys University of Applied Sciences Eindhoven
Every year, the students of the technical programmes of Fontys Hogescholen in the Physics study at Fontys Engineering in Eindhoven carry out projects for industry.
In this department, the students work in groups of 4 to 6 people on a problem, which comes from professional practice. In recent months, the students have joined forces in more than 18 challenging (ASIA) projects .
These projects are divided into projects where the project group consists solely of physics students and also projects where Fontys Applied Physics (TN) works together with (international) students from Fontys Engineering (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics).
The assignments are realistic assignments for physical engineers. Some assignments are in collaboration with engineering, making multidisciplinary collaboration a possibility.
During the day, the KIVI-Fontys annual prize will be awarded for the best nominated projects. Five projects were nominated for this KIVI prize by the Fontys ASIA organisation.
Their results were recently presented online to the KIVI jury on Wednesday 7 July. This took place in a KIVI/Fontys event that preceded the Fontys symposium Engineering & Technology in Practice.
