Working in the geotechnical sector is simply wonderful. Day in, day out, geotechnical engineers are at work worldwide on innovative projects. But also closer to home in Europe, and of course in our own country, there is much beauty to behold.
We are curious to know what your daily work in geotechnics looks like. Are you proud of the projects you have worked on? Are you still impressed by the interplay between soil, foundations and structures? Or of the moment when a design becomes reality? Show it and share your view on geotechnics!
How do you participate?
1.take a photo of a moment in the life of a geotechnical engineer, or of a beautiful geotechnical project.
2.post your photo on LinkedIn. When doing so, use the following three entries: #geotechnics, #geotechnicsday and tag KIVI Geotechnics - NSSMGE. The last one is very important then we will be notified that you have posted a photo.
3.a nice explanation of the photo and lots of likes and/or comments can help promote your photo.
The best entry will be published on our website, in the newsletter and on social media. The Geotechnical Department board will choose the winner. The winner will receive two free tickets to Geotechnics Day 2025. Entries can be submitted until 1 November 2025.
conditions
- Maximum 3 photos per entrant.
- Only submit photos of which you are the photographer (and therefore have all rights).
- Submit your photo without watermarks.
- Submit your photo with a sufficiently high resolution: the photo must be at least 2,400 pixels wide.
- In case of doubt about authenticity or injustice, the photo will be excluded from participation.
- By participating, you give us permission to use the submitted photo on the website, social media and in the digital newsletter (wherever possible with mention of the photographer's name).
- The prize winner will be notified personally on Tuesday 4 November and announced via the Geotechnical Day communication channels. No correspondence can be entered into about the results. If the winner has already registered for Geotechnical Day 2025, this amount will be refunded.

Take a photo capturing a moment in the life of a geotechnical engineer, or showcasing a beautiful geotechnical project.
Post your photo on LinkedIn. Make sure to include the following three mentions: #geotechniek, #geotechniekdag and tag KIVI Geotechniek - NSSMGE. The last one is especially important, as it notifies us that you've shared a photo.
Adding a good caption and receiving plenty of likes and/or comments can help your photo gain extra visibility.
The best entry will be published on our website, in the newsletter, and on social media. The Geotechnical Division Board will select the winner, who will receive two free tickets for Geotechnical Day 2025. Entries can be submitted until 1 November 2025.

- A maximum of 3 photos per entrant.
- Only submit photos that you have taken yourself (and therefore hold full rights to).
- Do not include watermarks on your photo.
- Submit your photo in sufficiently high resolution: it must be at least 2,400 pixels wide.
- If there are doubts about authenticity or in the event of misconduct, the photo will be disqualified.
- By taking part, you grant us permission to use the submitted photo on the website, social media, and in the digital newsletter (with the photographer's name credited wherever possible).
- The prize winner will be notified personally on Tuesday 4 November and announced through Geotechniekdag communication channels. The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. If the winner has already registered for Geotechniekdag 2025, the registration fee will be reimbursed.
