KIVI Chair Maintenance

Chair of Dynamics Based Maintenance

On Wednesday 1 February 2017, at a launch event, the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI) linked its name to the University of Twente's Dynamics Based Maintenance chair. Within this chair, researchers led by Prof Dr Tiedo Tinga, develop new and innovative methods that help make maintenance smarter and more predictable.

Bridge between practice and research for more effective maintenance

The aim of this KIVI Chair is to make a connection between maintenance in practice in Dutch industry and scientific research on topics such as predictive maintenance, structural health monitoring, condition-based maintenance, asset life cycle management, supply chain management and wireless sensor networks. To make this connection, brainstorm sessions with a small number of selected companies are organised on a regular basis (several times a year). They can indicate their maintenance-related problems or challenges.

In this way, companies can be assisted in solving the maintenance problem, while at the same time the chair gains insight into missing knowledge and technology in practice, which can be used for future research.
