About Young KIVI Engineers
Young KIVI Engineers (YKE) is the independent community for all engineers up to 36 years old in the Netherlands. We help young engineers deepen their professional knowledge, develop personal skills and expand their network. Our mission: to contribute to a new generation of excellent engineers. As part of the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI), we are part of a network of more than 13,000 engineers, nationally and internationally.
About the Portfolio Management team
The Portfolio Management team forms the link between engineering and politics. Portfolio managers connect policymakers and politicians with technical experts within KIVI. They ensure that technical knowledge becomes available for policy issues and social discussions. Portfolio managers help to:
- Connecting policymakers, political parties and ministries with the right technical experts within KIVI;
- Functioning as a point of contact within KIVI in their field of expertise;
- Increasing the social impact of young engineers.
The team consists of several Portfolio Managers, each with their own technical domain. The Chairman ensures that the team works together effectively, develops initiatives and that the activities of the Portfolio Management programme run smoothly.
What will you do as Chairman?
As Chairman, you will lead the Portfolio Management team and work closely with YKE's board. You will ensure that the team functions well, that initiatives are taken up and that the Portfolio Management programme continues to grow. You will include:
- Lead the Portfolio Management team and chair meetings;
- Monitor the team's progress and output;
- Support portfolio managers in their role;
- Drive new initiatives and collaborations;
- Liaise between the Portfolio Management team and the board of YKE;
- Representing the team towards external parties and within KIVI;
- Participating in monthly drinks in The Hague (every third Thursday of the month) with other Portfolio Managers.

We are looking for a committed engineer with a broad social interest and the desire to turn technical knowledge into impact, and who also gets energy from leading a team. You are someone who:
- Is interested in the relationship between engineering, policy and politics;
- Is strong in organising, coordinating and keeping an overview;
- Knows how to connect and motivate people;
- Takes initiative and can think strategically;
- Cooperates well with the YKE Board, Portfolio Managers, KIVI experts and policymakers;
- Is committed to building a bridge between politics and technology.
